Hamblin Hotel

I've had lots of questions about our villa. I kept waiting to take the pictures - waiting until it was completely clean (not going to happen), waiting until we got pictures on the walls (umm, maybe never going to happen - I can't just pick up a hammer and nail them onto these cement walls), and waiting until I got everything arranged just right (again, that's going to take a while). So I bit the bullet and just caught it as is. Envision it with beautiful pictures and artwork all over the walls. Here it is, complete in all of it's "lived-in-ness," for your viewing pleasure:

Entryway. And yes, Will will be there to greet you every time:)

Dining room

Dining room from the other side - yes, that is breakfast, and it is now lunch time. Oh well, that's how we roll.
Backyard - these are hard to come by here, and we feel blessed to have such a good sized one for the kids to play in.

Random space next to the stairs
Looking up from that random space, all the way up our two flights of stairs.
Laundry room. This picture doesn't do it justice at all, but seeing as how it is one of my favorite rooms, I just had to throw this in. I've never had a laundry room before. It has its own little sink, as well as a full sized washer and dryer, and it always stays clean because I'm the only one who ever goes in there:)
The "reading" room, my other favorite. The TV is up against the other wall.

Reading Room, other angle
Tyler and Will's room - no, it never looks like this. I caught it RIGHT after a once a week cleaning.
Hailey's room - we're still working on this. We have to give the crib back to the embassy, and we haven't been able to set up the bed frame to her bed because the screws mysteriously disappeared in the move... I have all sorts of cute girly things to put on her walls!

Not pictured are my 7 bathrooms. Yes, 7. And Owen's room, and our room (some things are just too truly messy to post here:) And the third floor, which we just use for storage. And the 2nd kitchen, also known as the maid's kitchen I guess.

Facts about our place: each room has it's own air conditioner; none of the furniture (except for some beds) is ours; it never, ever runs out of hot water!

SO, the point of these pictures is to convince YOU to come visit us. Seriously, we'd be overjoyed. We have plenty of room, but I'm sure it will fill up fast after you all see these photos, so book NOW at the Hamblin Hotel:)

  1. Oh perfect... I was looking for somewhere exotic to go after my graduation in May. This invitation (and pictures) just blew any travel brochures out of the water!

  4. Yeah! How fun! Eric actually might end up over there in the next year or so....sometime they are going to be doing some kind of collaboration with somebody over there about something (yeah, I'm *totally* in the know about EVERYTHING lol)....

  5. Oh, the temptation! A lot of those pictures reminded me of the houses my family had in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The backyard looked identical to the one I had in Dhahran in the late 80s.

Is your compound very close to the beach? I'm just curious.

  6. Love the place. Although, I think you stole of our furniture. : ) Nice to have a lot of space if you have to reside indoors for most of the summer.
