Sand Dunes and Crescent Moons: Our Winter Wonderland

Every now and then, I think of how fun some snow would be. BUT, I do not miss the cold one bit! In case you are stuck in winter's cold grasp, here are some shots of our winer wonderland, designed to make you want to come visit :)

Thanks to some wonderful friends who were willing to watch all the kids, we were able to go out kayaking JUST the 2 of us!

We were also excited to spot a herd of dolphins playing in the water in front of us, and plenty of flamingos. Unfortunately, I managed to drop Ken's phone in the ocean while climbing out onto the mangroves, and didn't get pictures of any of them.

We took a day trip to the emirate of Fujairah with other adventurous friends. Despite some problems getting there (like 5 bathroom and nursing stops, and some kayak roof rack trouble) we had a great time and I found lots of really cool shells and saw pretty fish while snorkeling with Ken (again, thanks to amazing friends. How do we always get so lucky??)

Ken gave rides in the kayak to just past the shore, and then they would ride the waves in. I loved seeing the kids faces!

Of course the one time Owen braved it, the kayak tipped over. He didn't feel like going back out after that :)

This beautiful weather leads to lots of lazy afternoons spent jumping on the trampoline.

Trying to make it work with the camera timer… the camera kept sliding towards us, and the sun was in and out from behind the clouds.

Lots of beautiful sunsets. I guess there really is no such thing as an ugly sunset though?!?

More feeding opportunities at the zoo. The kids were kind of nervous about the baby lambs, since when they saw the bottles the lambs got so excited they would jump on the kids to get to the bottle!
