Peek into the Past

The first week in November we went to Heritage Village, one of the few places in Abu Dhabi where they try to show you what it was like back in the day. It was great fun for the kids, and there were interesting things to see in their museum.

This is the tent we opted for. Plenty of space for a family of 6! But no bathrooms. And as you know, with lots of young kids, that's a problem.
It is way too boring to smile and say cheese :)
There is always something exciting to see at the beach!
These belong to the sandal wearers in our family!
Owen wasn't too sure about the quality of the water here...
Hailey had no doubts! Crystal clear and clean :)
I don't know what kind of flower this is, but it smells amazing and it is so pretty.
Replica of an old pearling boat.

This conversation consists of odd noises, grunts and funny facial expressions. They seem to communicate though. Owen knows Hailey is funny, and that's what she was trying to get across!

Part of the things they have here are people showing how different items are made. We enjoyed the carpet loom demonstration.

The boys' favorite was the sword and dagger maker. He even let them hold one.
National Day was coming up at this time, and people went all out decorating their houses. I especially loved the people who draped their houses with gigantic flags!

  1. The flower looks like a plumeria- it's one of my favorite scents!
